BMW Industries intends to extend its operations with a new production site in Bokaro, Jharkhand. The move attempts to improve downstream steel processing while meeting growing demand. The project, estimated to cost Rs 803.47 crore, will be funded by internal accruals and debt.
Project details
The project will build a downstream steel complex with an annual production capacity of 300,000 TPA of cold rolled full hard coil/sheet, 540,000 TPA of galvanised coil/sheet, and 2,000 TPA of colour coated coils/sheets. The corporation already owns the necessary industrial land for this greenfield project, which will be built in stages over two years. “The project’s proximity to the Haldia/Kolkata port, located at a distance of approximately 300 kilometres, will facilitate access to global markets,” the business’s statement said. Its proximity to raw material sources will also provide a reliable supply network. The company has received approval from the Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board to proceed with its project.
