Yamaha Motor Co Ltd has announced a partnership with Caterham EVo Ltd to develop a new electric sports coupe, known as ‘Project V.’
This collaboration will advance the project toward mass production and commercialisation by mid-2025. Project V will carry forward Caterham’s legacy of lightweight, fun-to-drive vehicles, prioritising driving pleasure.
Caterham first introduced the concept car for Project V at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed and later showcased it at the 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon.
Yamaha Motor is developing a specialised e-axle for the prototype and will supply this key electric powertrain component. The company will also provide motion control technologies, working towards a vision of “Caterham Powered by Yamaha Motor.”
In line with its commitment to sustainability, Yamaha Motor has set a goal to achieve carbon neutrality in Scope 3 emissions by 2050. The company continues to develop advanced, small, and lightweight electric powertrains, and in 2024, Yamaha Motor also announced its entry into the Formula E World Championship.
Thus, this partnership further emphasises Yamaha’s dedication to promoting sustainable technologies.
