Vedanta Group is in talks with Taiwan’s TFT LCD maker, Innolux Corporation, to establish a display fabrication plant in India, as confirmed by an official of the conglomerate. During the meeting with the Minister of State for Electronics and IT, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, representatives from both companies discussed India’s vision and objectives in domestic display manufacturing to achieve self-reliance in electronics production.
A spokesperson for Vedanta’s semiconductor and display business confirmed the ongoing discussions for the display fab between the two companies, emphasising their commitment to supporting the government’s vision of a self-reliant India.
Vedanta Group previously announced plans to establish an electronic chip and display manufacturing plant in India. While a joint venture with Taiwanese electronics manufacturing giant Foxconn could not proceed, both Vedanta and Foxconn are actively seeking partners to establish semiconductor manufacturing units in India. Additionally, Vedanta has initiated discussions with Japanese companies for semiconductor business.
