Tata Motors revealed that the new Harrier EV will be out by the financial year of March 2025. The first electric SUV will incorporate the Punch EV’s Acti. It will have an EV architecture, probably with a 60kWh battery pack that would allow it to travel up to 500km on a single charge.
After launching the Curvv EV during this festive season, Tata will add another feather to its cap in the EV segment with the Harrier EV. The Harrier EV is based on the Omega platform derived from Land Rover but is designed for the electric powertrain with a flat floor inside, and V2L and V2V charging capabilities. Each axle will be equipped with an electric motor that will give the car an all-wheel drive system.
Some of these design features that were seen in the near-production model at Auto Expo 2023 include a closed-off grille, a new bumper and a coupe-like roof line.
The interior is not shown in detail but it is expected to borrow cues from the Harrier and Safari along with the key highlights of Tata’s existing electric vehicle lineup.
The Harrier EV will rival Mahindra’s XUV700-based XUV. e8, which is still expected to be released this year. Both are expected to begin with a price tag of over Rs 30 lakh, ex-showroom.
