Tata Motors’ fleet of 3,100 electric buses has crossed a key milestone, covering over 25 crore kilometres which is equivalent to travelling around the Earth’s circumference 6,200 times! This achievement not only highlights the company’s commitment to sustainable urban mobility but also its positive impact on reducing air pollution and offering greener transport solutions across India.
Reducing emissions and enhancing urban mobility
The Tata Motors electric bus fleet has been contributing significantly to reducing CO2 emissions. With each bus covering an average of 200 km per day, the fleet has helped save over 1.4 lakh tonnes of CO2 tailpipe emissions. These buses’ success shows the increasing move towards sustainable city transport. Adoption has grown rapidly, with 15 crore km covered in just 12 months.
CEO Asim Kumar Mukhopadhyay highlighted the company’s dedication to making mass transit greener and smarter, stressing Tata Motors’ continued commitment to creating safer, cleaner, and more efficient transportation options.
The buses, operational in cities like Mumbai, New Delhi, and Bengaluru, boast high reliability, with an impressive uptime of over 95 per cent. Their advanced features, including air suspension for comfort and easy-access hydraulic lifts for differently-abled passengers, ensure a smooth and inclusive ride.
