Tata Motors has started two new initiatives named “Vidyadhan” and “Utkarsha” to help the children of its technicians across India get into better colleges.
Under the “Vidyadhan” program, children who have completed 10th and 12th grade can get low-interest student loans to help pay for college. It offers loans of up to Rs 7.5 lakh and covers up to 95 per cent of domestic or 85 per cent of international fees. The interest rates are lowered for boys by 50 per cent and for girls, transgender people, and children with special needs by 70 per cent.
The “Utkarsha” program will provide scholarships of Rs 25,000 a year to girls, transgender people, and students with special needs who get at least 60 per cent in their classes and get into recognised institutions.
Both programs are meant to support technicians of the future financially and give them the resources they need to pursue their educational and career goals.
Sitaram Kandi, Chief Human Resources Officer of Tata Motors, emphasised that these programs will bridge the gap between aspirations and accessibility, helping students and their families focus on education without financial stress.
