Takara Bio Europe expands Gothenburg lab to deliver custom enzyme solutions

This expansion allows for 600,000 weekly reactions, enhancing sustainability and service flexibility for EMEA customers.

Takara Bio Europe has expanded its Gothenburg facility with a new custom manufacturing lab that began operations recently. This expansion enhances the company’s ability to provide molecular biology solutions to academic researchers, diagnostic laboratories, and biotech companies throughout Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), enabling the production of up to 600,000 reactions per week.

Initially focused on stem cell products and reagents under the Cellartis brand, the Gothenburg site now offers a wide range of customised molecular biology products, including PCR and qPCR enzymes. The enhanced capabilities are designed to deliver faster services, personalised support, and real-time access to technical expertise, which will help customers advance their projects more efficiently while contributing to sustainability goals through reduced carbon emissions.

Kristina Runeberg, Site Head at Takara Bio Europe, highlighted that this expansion strengthens the company’s capacity to provide custom solutions with greater flexibility and quicker turnaround times, ensuring they can meet customer needs while minimising their carbon footprint.
