Swiss Steel Group continues to drive the green transformation with renewable consortium

The consortium’s mission is to develop wind and photovoltaic plants for self-supply with green electricity.

Swiss Steel Group has joined the “Initiative EE-Industrie,” a renewable energy consortium comprising 19 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Germany, marking a significant leap towards greener steel production.

The consortium’s mission is to develop wind and photovoltaic plants for self-supply with green electricity. With an ambitious target of 220 MW of wind power and 80 MW of photovoltaics, the initiative is set to revolutionize energy sourcing in the steel industry.

Frank Koch, CEO of Swiss Steel Group, underscores the importance of diversifying energy sources for reducing carbon footprint. He highlights the collaborative effort’s potential to secure low-CO2 energy and optimize green power generation costs.

As part of this initiative, Swiss Steel Group aims to not only consume but also produce green energy, aligning with its commitment to CO2-neutral processes and sustainable steel production. The company’s participation reflects its dedication to innovation, climate action, and leadership in the manufacturing sector.
