Sterling Tools and GLVAC unite for local high-voltage EV components

Supports “Make in India” by improving EV safety, accessibility, and generating significant revenue by FY30.

Sterling Tools Ltd has partnered with China’s Kunshan GLVAC Yuantong New Energy Technology Co, Ltd (GLVAC YT) to manufacture high-voltage components essential for electric and hybrid vehicles in India. Through its subsidiary, Sterling Tech-Mobility Ltd, the partnership will focus on localising the production of High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) contactors and relays, which are crucial for safely managing current flow in EV systems.

This collaboration supports India’s “Make in India” and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives, with Sterling Tools planning a Rs 40 crore investment in a new Bengaluru manufacturing facility. The venture aims to generate around Rs 250 crore in revenue by FY30, enhancing accessibility to advanced EV technology for Indian OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers.

Anish Agarwal, Director of Sterling Tools, highlighted the partnership’s role in advancing safety in India’s EV market. Li Qinghua, General Manager of GLVAC YT, described India as a vital market for electric mobility, noting the alignment between GLVAC’s expertise and Sterling’s manufacturing strengths to support India’s green mobility shift.
