Siemens and RVNL secure major contract for Bengaluru Metro Phase 2 electrification

The order value in its entirety is roughly Rs. 766 crore.

Siemens Limited has obtained an order from Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) to electrify the Bengaluru Metro Phase 2 project, which would contribute to sustainable public transportation in the city. This contract was obtained as part of a consortium that also included Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL). The order value in its entirety is roughly Rs. 766 crore. Siemens portion of the consortium is estimated to be worth Rs. 558 crore.

Siemen will create, construct, implement, and test rail electrification technologies in addition to a digital solution that consists of SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems. The project connects the Bengaluru Airport terminal to Central Silk Board via KR Puram and two depots, with 30 stations over a distance of 58 kilometres. Siemens is now present in 11 of the 20 cities with a Metro with this order.

Gunjan Vakharia, Head of Mobility Business, Siemens Limited, said that the implementation of Phase 2 will significantly contribute to sustainable urban development in Bengaluru, catering to the requirements of commuters and Metro Rail authorities.Â
