Shree Cement has declared its membership in the prestigious RE100 initiative, committing to transition its entire operations to 100 per cent renewable electricity by 2050. This announcement reflects Shree’s resolve to lead the global shift towards sustainable energy consumption. Managing Director, Neeraj Akhoury, emphasised the company’s dedication to becoming a green building materials leader and setting industry standards for sustainability.
Recognising Shree Cement’s efforts, Atul Mudaliar of Climate Group praised their commitment and highlighted the potential for hard-to-abate sectors to embrace renewable energy. The Company’s investment of over Rs 1050 crore in solar and wind power plants underscores its commitment, with plans for further expansion across five states. Akhoury stressed the company’s focus on sustainability, leveraging innovative technologies and collaborative efforts to promote renewable energy adoption. The company pledges transparent monitoring and reporting to ensure accountability and drive progress towards its renewable electricity goals.
