Samvardhana Motherson expands reach with $7.8M Baldi Industria acquisition

The acquisition aligns with Samvardhana Motherson’s strategy to expand its global footprint and technological expertise.

Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd has announced that its subsidiary, Samvardhana Motherson Automotive Systems Group B.V., will fully acquire Brazilian auto component maker Baldi Industria e Comercio Ltda for $7.8 million.

Baldi Industria, a tier 2 supplier, specialises in wrapping solutions and soft-touch surfaces for interior automotive components like door panels, instrument panels, and steering wheels. The company operates a single manufacturing facility in Brazil and reported a turnover of $11,282 in 2023.

This acquisition will strengthen Samvardhana Motherson’s presence in the South American market, expanding its capabilities in wrapping solutions and soft-touch interior surfaces. It complements the company’s existing module and polymer operations in the region.

The deal is subject to meeting specific conditions and is expected to close by the first quarter of the next financial year. Payment will be made in cash, with $2.8 million held back to ensure seller indemnification obligations for up to five years.

Samvardhana Motherson stated that the acquisition aligns with its strategy to enhance its global footprint and technological expertise in automotive interior solutions.
