Samson Sky secures eighth patent for Switchblade Flying Car

Sam Bousfield, CEO of Samson Sky, has secured his eighth design patent from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He also obtained corresponding international patents for the innovative Switchblade Flying Car. The latest patent, issued on November 19, 2025, protects the vehicle’s unique tail fold and retraction design. The mechanism operates with a simple push of a button inside the cockpit, ensuring user convenience.

Enhanced safety through retractable components

This patented design retracts the Switchblade’s tail and propellers into the body, fully protecting all flying surfaces while the vehicle operates in drive mode. Company officials assert that these safety features are instrumental in enhancing the insurability of the vehicle when it is on the ground.

The compact design fits easily into standard garages, removing the need for extra storage or hangar fees and significantly reducing overall operating costs for owners. This combination of safety and convenience underscores the innovative nature of the Switchblade Flying Car and contributes to its appeal in the emerging market of flying vehicles.

Meeting insurance and performance standards

Bousfield stated that their flying car uniquely meets key insurance requirements, especially by protecting all flying surfaces while operating in drive mode. The vehicle stands out for its strong safety compliance and exceptional performance in both driving and flying modes, clearly setting it apart from other flying cars on the market.
