Royal Enfield experienced an 8% year-on-year decline in May sales, with 71,010 units dispatched compared to 77,461 units in the same month last year. Despite a challenging domestic market, the company saw growth in international sales.
Sales of models with engine capacities up to 350cc, which constitute nearly 90% of Royal Enfield’s sales, fell by 13% to 59,852 units. In contrast, sales of models with engine capacities exceeding 350cc rose by 32% to 11,158 units.
International sales increased by 12% to 7,479 units, providing a silver lining amid overall declining figures.
Royal Enfield’s lineup includes ten models: Bullet 350, Classic 350, Hunter 350, Meteor 350, Scram 411, Himalayan, Interceptor 650, Continental GT 650, Super Meteor 650, and Shotgun 650.
In April, the company sold a total of 81,870 motorcycles, indicating a broader trend of fluctuating sales figures.
Royal Enfield continues to rely heavily on its popular 350cc models, yet the significant growth in higher-capacity models suggests a shifting preference among buyers. The international market’s robust performance also underscores the brand’s global appeal.
