The NTPC Green Energy Limited Green Hydrogen Hub Project was inaugurated at Andhra Pradesh, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This project is the first Green Hydrogen Hub under the National Green Hydrogen (NGH) mission. It is being developed through collaboration between NGEL and the New & Renewable Energy Development Corporation of AP Ltd. (NREDCAP).
Expanding green hydrogen initiatives
NGEL and NREDCAP have signed a joint venture to develop 20 GW of renewable energy projects. The venture also includes 1500 TPD of green hydrogen and 7500 TPD of derivatives. This initiative is expected to attract over Rs 1,85,000 crore in investment for the state. It will also create numerous job opportunities and help achieve India’s 500 GW non-fossil energy capacity target by 2030.
Additionally, A similar MoU has been signed with the Rajasthani government for the development of 25 GW of renewable energy projects in the state. In the future, NGEL plans to investigate similar partnerships with additional state administrations.
