Odisha to begin semiconductor manufacturing in the coming years

Odisha is set to commence semiconductor manufacturing within the next few years, as announced by Electronics and IT Minister Mukesh Mahaling during the ‘From Temple to Tech’ summit, a collaboration between the state government and Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC).

The minister said, “The state has seen growing interest from leading IT companies, with several already setting up operations and more in the pipeline.”

A specialised industry support cell, in addition to alluring information technology and semiconductor policies from the state, helps investors in the IT sector. The summit resulted in six memorandums of understanding (MoUs) between ESC and leading academic institutions to develop talent and strengthen industry-academia cooperation between them. The state achieved its position as a technology leader through the noteworthy achievements of ten promising electronics and IT firms operating in the state.
