In 2020, TVS Motor Company paid 16 million pounds to acquire Norton Motorcycles. Mahindra purchased BSA Motorcycles in 2021, and Tata Motors purchased Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) in 2008. The practice of Indian OEMs purchasing venerable British automakers is starting to gain traction. When TVS acquired the financially troubled Norton Motorcycles in 2022, the company continued along the same path.
Although the management team in Hosur is putting in a lot of effort to get Norton back on track, as of yet there is no clear plan for the British brand’s alleged future in India. It appears practically certain now that Norton will soon set off on a new adventure in the Indian market.
Norton is set to introduce its goods in India, according to a recent report released by Autocar India. Up to six brand-new Norton models will be introduced in the country over the course of the next three years, according to Sudarshan Venu, MD of TVS Motors. In 2025, the first of these vehicles will go on sale. The media source states that this model would likely be available for purchase in India soon after making its global debut.
The report also states that the new models won’t be based on the 2018 Nomad or 650cc Atlas display models. The six impending new models from Norton will adhere to the company’s new Design, Dynamism, and Detail philosophy, much like the global-spec models do.
However, TVS must address a few critical issues before Norton enters India. For example, when compared to other popular models, the majority of Norton models are significantly pricier. Additionally, since taking control, TVS has had to address a number of serious engineering problems in its current product selection, which has resulted in significant expenditures and time. Even though it was not required by regulations to do so, TVS provided excellent customer service by addressing ongoing customer concerns.
