Nissan’s Report 2024 highlights commitment to carbon neutrality and circular economy

Nissan has been working to realise its long-standing environmental philosophy of “a symbiosis of people, vehicles, and nature” since 2002.

The Nissan Motor Company has recently published its Integrated Report 2024 that looks at the company’s efforts in delivering its Ambition 2030 plan that is based on sustainability. The company seeks to positively impact society, protect people, and help in the efforts to restore the depleted human environment and natural resources.

The company’s efforts include the Nissan Social Programme 2030 (NSP2030), a strategic compilation of Nissan’s social activities, and the fifth-generation Nissan Green Programme 2030 (NGP2030), both of which complement the company’s overall business plan.

Nissan has been working to realise its long-standing environmental philosophy of “a symbiosis of people, vehicles, and nature” since 2002, when it unveiled the Nissan Green Programme (NGP), its first mid-term environmental action plan.

NGP2030 identifies three key areas of materials which require attention: air and water; dependency on resources; and climate change. The company is also targeting a carbon neutral organisation as well as pursuing a circular economy model and is preparing for a world with limited direct impact on the natural environment where the global temperature increase is 1.5 degrees Celsius or less.

Thus, primary targets involve a reduction at four principal markets, that is Japan, the US, Europe, and China, with NGP2030 aiming to decrease CO2 emissions by 30 per cent for each vehicle lifecycle, 52 per cent for manufacturing, and 50 per cent for new model development. Nissan’s aim is to cut emissions in these markets by 32. 5 per cent globally.
