Maruti Suzuki’s total sales take a tumble, 3.63% drop in July

While mini-segment sales showed a slight increase, compact and utility vehicle sales experienced significant declines.

According to Maruti Suzuki India, overall sales dropped by 3.63 per cent in July 2024, from 1,81,630 units in July 2023 to 1,75,041 units. The number of domestic passenger vehicles sold dropped by 9.64 per cent, from 1,52,126 units the previous year to 1,37,463 units.

In the mini segment, which includes models like the Alto and S-Presso, sales went up a little from 9,590 units to 9,960 units year-over-year. But sales of compact cars like the Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, and WagonR dropped from 67,102 units in July 2023 to 58,682 units. Also, sales of utility vehicles like the Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny, and XL6 dropped from 62,049 units last year to 56,302 units this year.

The mid-sized sedan Ciaz also experienced a drop, with sales falling to 603 units from 1,348 units in July 2023. On a positive note, exports increased to 23,985 units from 22,199 units during the same period.
