Maruti Suzuki India Limited has announced the opening of applications for the 9th cohort of its Maruti Suzuki Accelerator, an initiative for startups. For the first time, the Company is accepting applications from global startups. Both Indian and worldwide startups with new solutions for vehicle manufacturing and mobility can apply and profit from the programme.
Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said that the startup ecosystem is full of ideas and solutions relevant to the automobile manufacturing and mobility space. In 2019, they initiated a programme with an aim to create an enabling ecosystem for startups with technology-driven innovations.
In this regard, the company set up the Mobility and Automobile Innovation Lab (MAIL) in 2019 to advance automation manufacturing and mobility. In this context, the corporate accelerator programme signifies that the company partners with start-ups to build solutions that enhance customer convenience and develop other technological innovations.
It also brings rather helpful options for the business people like investment facility from the newly constituted Maruti Suzuki Innovation Fund.
Over a period of five years and eight batches, scooping startups has been successfully done more than 2000; 56 known startups have been approached. Of these, 18 have been appointed as business partners The above information shows that the appointments of business partners involved the contracting of 18 partners. Maruti Suzuki has already earned more than Rs 1 billion in revenue for these 18 businesses.
Maruti Suzuki opted to rebrand and build a new brand identity in response to the programme’s dynamic and evolving ecosystem. Starting with Cohort 9, the Mobility and Automobile Innovation Lab (MAIL) will be renamed Maruti Suzuki Accelerator.
