The 19th Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) and 17th Indian Motorcycle of the Year (IMOTY) awards, presented by JK Tyre, acknowledged outstanding vehicles and achievements in the Indian automotive landscape.
A group of experienced automobile journalists evaluated the shortlisted machines, employing multiple customer-focused criteria at the centre of the judgment process. The decision-making considered several crucial aspects, including price, fuel consumption, design, ease of use, efficiency, functionality, technological advancement, value for money, and suitability for Indian driving conditions.
Dr. Raghupati Singhania, Chairman & Managing Director of JK Tyre & Industries, along with distinguished jury participants, ICOTY Chairman Dhruv Behl, and IMOTY Chairman Bertrand D’souza, unveiled the winners.
Hyundai Exter clinched the title of Indian Car of the Year 2024, standing out in a highly competitive market with its exceptional performance and unique appearance. Dr. Singhania emphasized the importance of these distinctions, considering them crucial celebrations of quality and innovation in the automobile industry.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan won the Indian Motorcycle of the Year 2024 title. The Chairman of the IMOTY Jury, Bertrand Dsouza, commended the assortment of outstanding equipment, expressing the desires of Indian riders looking for thrilling and enjoyable motorcycles.
- The ICOTY introduced the ‘Premium Car Award’ in 2019, which was won by the BMW 7 Series for 2024.
- In recognition of the growing prominence of electric vehicles, the ‘Green Car Award’ was introduced in 2021, and the Hyundai IONIQ 5 proudly received this accolade for 2024.

Upon winning the ICOTY 2024 award, Tarun Garg, COO of Hyundai Motor India, expressed gratitude for the recognition of Hyundai, both with the ICOTY win for Exter and the Green Car of the Year title for IONIQ 5.
Siddhartha Lal, Managing Director & CEO of Eicher Motors Ltd, felt honoured to receive the Indian Motorcycle of the Year 2024 award for the new Himalayan.
Vikram Pawah, President of BMW Group India, acknowledged the ICOTY jury for recognising the BMW 7 Series as a clear winner. He described the seventh generation of the BMW 7 Series as a symbol of ‘Forwardism,’ challenging the ordinary and ensuring lasting fascination.
On winning the Green Car of The Year 2024 award, Tarun Garg, COO of Hyundai Motor India, expressed immense gratitude to the ICOTY jury for choosing the Hyundai IONIQ 5 as the Green Car of the Year. He thanked valued customers for their overwhelming response, acknowledging the IONIQ 5’s innovation and eco-friendly impact.
