ISRO offers free AI/ML and Deep Learning course: Registration details inside

The course is scheduled from 19th to 24th August 2024

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), is offering a free online course on Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Deep Learning (DL). This opportunity is open to professionals, students, and researchers interested in geospatial data processing and related fields such as civil engineering, computer science, data analytics, geoinformatics, and geomatics.

The course, scheduled from 19th to 24th August 2024, will cover fundamental concepts and applications of AI, ML, and DL. Participants will be introduced to various machine learning methods, including supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning. Additionally, the course will delve into deep learning techniques such as Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), Recurrent Neural Networks (RNNs), and advanced models like Faster R-CNN, SSD, and YOLO. The use of Google Earth Engine for machine learning, as well as Python programming for developing machine and deep learning models, will also be highlighted.

Participants will have access to a range of study materials, including lecture slides, recorded video lectures, open-source software, and demonstration handouts, all provided through ISRO’s e-class platform. The course is designed to be accessible, requiring only a stable internet connection—no specialised hardware or software is necessary.

There are two registration options for this course. Participants registering through nodal centres must have their applications approved by the centre’s coordinator. Those registering individually will be automatically approved and will receive login credentials for ISRO’s Learning Management System (LMS).

To successfully complete the course, participants are required to maintain at least 70% attendance in each session. Upon fulfilling this criterion, participants will be awarded a “Course Participation Certificate.” This applies to both nodal centre and individual registrants.

This initiative, sponsored by the Department of Space, Government of India, aims to equip participants with cutting-edge skills in AI, ML, and DL, enhancing their capability to apply these technologies in geospatial and related fields.

How to register:

  • Visit the IIRS-ISRO website and follow the registration process based on your preferred option (nodal centre or individual).
  • Ensure your application is approved, and be prepared to participate fully in the course to earn your certificate.
