Indian Gas Exchange Limited (IGX), and Central European Gas Hub AG (CEGH) have entered a MoU for cooperation in natural and renewable gas. The idea behind the new cooperation is to bolster the Indian gas market with the help of European market knowledge of CEGH and the Indian market knowledge of IGX. The MoU covers natural gas trading, renewable gases (hydrogen, biomethane, e-methane), commodity certificates, market creation, training, and gas hub management.
The partnership calls for cooperation in creating sound operational models for natural gas trading that incorporates expert technical, operating, and authorising improvements. The regulatory policy arising from the Indian and European experience will be incorporated and expert experience shared to promote formation of a liquid and elective gas market.
IGX and CEGH also have similar strategies for the setting up of trading venues for the new green gases such as hydrogen and biomethane as well as the green gas certificates. They will also cooperate to facilitate the development and the functioning of the gas hubs in India. The partnership’s goal is to provide a seamless, digitalised trading platform and contribute to India’s vision of a gas-based economy and a low-carbon future.
