Hyundai unveils new compact SUV Venue

The car breaks cover with 33 connected features ranging from safety to vehicle relationship management

Hyundai Motor India unveiled it’s new compact SUV, the Venue. Touted to be ‘India’s first connected SUV’, the Venue will be launched in India on May 21, 2019 at in an expected price bracket of Rs 7-12 lakh (ex-showroom).

The car breaks cover with 33 connected features ranging from safety (auto crash notification, road side assistance etc) to vehicle relationship management (maintenance alert, driving information etc).

Hyundai introduced it’s connectivity solution ‘Hyundai Blue Link’ with the Venue. It’s an in-built and claimed to be a tamper-proof device powered by Vodafone-Idea eSIM and a cloud based voice recognition platform from Global AI (Artificial Intelligence) company. The introduced 33 features include 10 India specific features for a practical and holistic connectivity with safety convenience and various record management relationship services. The Blue Link services will be complementary for first three years post which customers have an option to renew the services.

The Venue is offered with two petrol and one diesel engine options: A 1.0- litre Kappa T-GFU petrol engine delivering 120PS of power and a peak torque of 172Nm, a 1.2-litre petrol engine churning 83PS and 115Nm of torque while the third 1.4-litre diesel engine produces 90PS of power and a peak torque of 220Nm.

The 1.0-litre petrol is offered with a manual gearbox as well as a first in segment 7-speed DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission). The 1.2-litre petrol is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox while the diesel gets a 6- speed manual transmission only.
