Honeywell and Beijing Hinergy Qingyuan Technology Co, Ltd (“Hinergy”) have launched an advanced plastic recycling program using Honeywell’s UpCycle Process Technology.
Hinergy will establish a facility in Shandong Province to process up to 30,000 tons of mixed waste plastics annually. This initiative aims to convert waste plastics into recycled polymer feedstock (RPF), significantly enhancing plastic recycling capabilities.
Honeywell’s UpCycle Process Technology integrates molecular conversion, pyrolysis, and contaminants management to expand recycling possibilities, including complex and multilayered plastics.
The technology, combined with improvements in collection and sorting, could potentially recycle nearly 90% of waste plastics, advancing circular economy goals.
Chen Donglin, Chairman of Hinergy, expressed confidence in the project’s impact on China’s circular plastics economy, emphasising the alignment with global carbon reduction efforts.
William Yu, President of Honeywell China, highlighted the technology’s role in broadening recyclable plastic types and supporting sustainable development in China.
Honeywell will provide comprehensive support, including start-up engineering and technical services, for the new facility. This partnership underscores Honeywell’s commitment to environmental innovation and China’s dual carbon goals.
