Can electric buses power India’s clean transport future? GreenCell Mobility just moved the needle by securing over 1,200 electric buses under the PM E-Bus Sewa Scheme which is one of the largest e-bus orders in the country to date.

Big win under PM E-bus Sewa scheme

GreenCell Mobility has received a Letter of Award (LOA) to supply and deploy 472 Eicher electric buses across six cities in Madhya Pradesh. The order is part of the government’s PM E-Bus Sewa Scheme.

For this project, GreenCell has partnered with VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV). In another major move, the company has joined hands with EKA Mobility to deliver 750 electric buses to 11 cities in Andhra Pradesh.

Pushing India’s electric mobility drive

Backed by Eversource Capital, GreenCell Mobility is playing a leading role in India’s shift to clean and green public transport. With 900 e-buses already running in states like Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra, this new order expands its footprint to Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. The company is also building charging infrastructure to ensure smooth operations.

Strong industry partnerships drive impact

The new buses, built with fast charging, AI-powered systems, and comfort features, aim to offer a safer and cleaner commuting experience.

Vinod Aggarwal, MD & CEO of VECV, said, “These buses are built on reliable technology and have already clocked 1.4 crore km across India.”

Dr Sudhir Mehta of EKA Mobility added, “This partnership marks a significant step toward building smarter, more sustainable cities across India.”
