Manufacturing Today and Aditya Birla Group co-hosted the Reinventing the Future summit in Indore

Aditya Birla Group (ABG) partnered with Manufacturing Today magazine to present the Reinventing the Future – Innovation at Work summit in Indore. The event was attended by over 150 manufacturing professionals from leading manufacturing organisations, such as Crompton Greaves, Parle Agro, Man Trucks India, Gabriel, Volvo Eicher, SRF Limited, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd, Lupin Ltd, NSAIL, Cummins Turbo, Mahindra Two Wheelers, Cipla Ltd, etc.

The keynote address was given by HK Agarwal, COO, Manufacturing Pulp & Fibre Business, ABG, who stressed on the opportunities that will present themselves within the Indian manufacturing space during the next decade. “The Government has made a policy decision to increase the share of manufacturing from the current 17.5% to 25% of the economy, which will result in the revenues from manufacturing reaching $ 1.1 trillion from the current $ 400 million – that is a three-fold growth – in 10 years. You can only imagine how many opportunities this will bring in the manufacturing sector. There will be a demand for all kinds of professionals and skills. I’m very excited at the prospects ahead for the Indian manufacturing space. This will be a great driver to create employment and within employment lies human progress,” he stated.

Teams from the attending organisations competed via case study presentations across diverse categories, including Cost Optimisation, Technology, Sustainability, People Initiatives, Safety and Quality. BDB India was the market research partner. The winning teams will have a rare opportunity to be pitted against winners from other cities in a national competition to be held at a glittering ceremony on 2nd September, 2016, in Pune, as part of Manufacturing Today’s Annual Conference & Awards 2016.

In addition, this platform provided an opportunity to students from India’s best institutions to display their innovative ideas on the student exhibitions platform. Participating teams consisted of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Mumbai; IIT Indore; the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing, Jabalpur; and the Institute of Engineering & Science, IPS Academy, Indore.
