FedEx, a major global express logistics company, recently successfully concluded Digithon 2024, an innovation competition that establishes the firm’s focus on using smart approaches to dealing with challenges in logistics.
Digithon 2024, which was held across regional offices in India, asked FedEx team members to tackle real-world problems that FedEx leadership had presented. The competition challenges included case construction of multiple prediction models, digital twins, learning systems, and sentiment modelling methodologies to improve the supply chain, to optimise shipment placement, and to automate service requests.
Nitin Navneet Tatiwala, vice president of marketing and Air Network, MEISA said that FedEx is fostering innovation through initiatives like Digithon 2024, promoting cross-functional collaboration and empowering team members to propose transformative ideas for improved customer experience and operational effectiveness.
Digithon, a program launched in August and ending in October 2024, involved mentorship sessions and prototype development. IIT professors from the FedEx Centre of Excellence at IIT Bombay and Madras provided expert guidance, while PhD and MTech scholars continued to engage with selected problem statements, fostering collaboration between academia and FedEx leadership. The solutions and ideas generated during Digithon 2024 are currently under evaluation for scalability and potential implementation across FedEx’s operations in India.
