Johnson Controls-Hitachi Air Conditioning India Ltd has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) to establish a manufacturing-focused startup incubator in Gujarat.
This initiative highlights the company’s commitment to enhancing innovation within the Indian manufacturing ecosystem. The incubator will serve as a platform for startups in selected manufacturing sectors, promoting technological advancements, sustainability, and energy efficiency.
The MoU was formalised by Sumeet Jarangal, Director of DPIIT, and Sanjay Sudhakaran, Managing Director of Johnson Controls-Hitachi, in the presence of Sanjiv, Joint Secretary at DPIIT.
Jarangal emphasised the importance of innovation in enhancing India’s manufacturing capabilities, aligning with the Prime Minister’s vision of “design in India, design for the world.”
The incubator will provide mentorship on various aspects such as concept-to-prototype development, project viability, and go-to-market strategies. It aims to support startups in securing funding and navigating legal processes for product commercialisation.
Sudhakaran further noted the strategic partnership’s potential to cultivate India’s manufacturing success, leveraging Johnson Controls-Hitachi’s expertise and advanced R&D capabilities at its Kadi facility.
