DP World is set to expand its rail terminal in Pali-Rewari, Haryana, to support the growth of containerised rail cargo in North India. The expansion will increase the monthly freight train handling capacity by 25 per cent. The company operates seven strategically located rail and inland terminals that connect to a wide network of Indian rail terminals. This ensures unmatched reach and efficiency for customers across the nation’s industrial heartlands and ports. 

Investments in sustainable logistics

The logistics company has invested over Rs 1,800 crore to expand its rail asset infrastructure and operations. This is all with the goal of enhancing multimodal and sustainable logistics across the country. It has more than 100 owned containers and Special Freight Train Operator Scheme (SFTO) rakes, over 16,000 containers, and trailers for last-mile delivery.

The company has unlocked market access for traders with unique rail solutions like the Morbi-Kolkata rail freight service. This rail service connects ceramic traders in Kolkata with ceramic manufacturers in Morbi, Gujarat. 

Innovative rail solutions

DP World’s Pali Rail Terminal functions as a vital transshipment hub, offering facilities such as customs clearance and the consolidation of smaller shipments into containers. It links containerised cargo to core seaports such as Mundra, Pipavav, Hazira and Nhava Sheva. This aid in improving the handling of double-stack rakes and connectivity through the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC).

The company has particularly experienced an increase in domestic rail freight through the application of innovative rail solutions such as SARAL and SARAL-2. The company is establishing new routes for its services all over India. DP World’s rail operations also factor in reducing carbon emissions, thus promoting sustainable logistics solutions .
