DHL eCommerce’s 2024 Online Shopper Trends Report reveals that social commerce, sustainability, and reliable delivery services are key factors shaping online shopping behaviour in the Asia-Pacific region.
As social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and WeChat become major players in e-commerce, more than 90 per cent of surveyed shoppers in the region have made purchases through social platforms.
Sustainability is also a growing priority for consumers, with a majority seeking transparency on carbon emissions related to their deliveries. In India, 83 per cent of shoppers consider sustainability a key factor, with similar sentiments reflected in Thailand, Malaysia, and China.
E-commerce continues to boom, with consumers making frequent purchases and placing high importance on delivery reliability. In markets like India and Thailand, over 75 per cent of shoppers emphasise the need to trust their delivery providers before making a purchase.
As the Asia-Pacific e-commerce market heads towards $3 trillion by 2028, businesses must prioritise sustainability and logistics to capture this growing customer base.
