Coca-Cola India honoured with Mahatma Gandhi Award for transformative CSR contributions

Through Project Unnati and ‘World Without Waste,’ Coca-Cola champions environmental responsibility and community empowerment.

Coca-Cola India has been honoured with the prestigious Mahatma Gandhi Award for Corporate Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) for its significant social and environmental responsibility contributions.

The award recognises the company’s initiatives in water stewardship, circular economy, and sustainable agriculture. Dr Kiran Bedi, a former IPS officer, presented the award at the India International Centre in New Delhi, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti.

Rajesh Ayapilla, Senior Director of CSR and Sustainability for Coca-Cola India & Southwest Asia, expressed gratitude for the recognition, emphasising the company’s commitment to environmental stewardship and community empowerment through sustainable agriculture and waste management practices. He noted that the award reflects the entire team and partners’ dedication to creating a meaningful impact.

Coca-Cola’s sustainability efforts focus on three areas: Water Stewardship, Sustainable Packaging, and Sustainable Agriculture. Its 2030 Water Security Strategy aims to replenish water resources and enhance community access.

Through initiatives like Project Unnati, the company supports small farmers across 13 states, promoting sustainable agricultural practices and improving livelihoods. Additionally, the ‘World Without Waste’ strategy boosts a circular economy through its packaging initiatives.
