BorgWarner has secured contracts to supply exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) coolers to a major North American commercial vehicle (CV) customer, resulting in a significant boost to its thermal management division.
Awarded for two different EGR cooler designs, the contracts show BorgWarner’s strong links in the industry and technological leadership.
The new EGR solutions are to be produced from Q4 2027 and include a compact floating core (CFC) architecture, and a compact monoblock core, both of which are designed to manage the thermal stress in CV engines.
The CFC design improves durability and reliability, while the monoblock core deals with the more stringent packaging density at an affordable price point.
Talking to the press, BorgWarner’s Vice President Dr Volker Weng mentioned that the company has been increasingly focused on its EGR product range that enhances fuel economy and emission standards in different markets.
The EGR cooler family, which spans engine sizes from 2.0 to 16.0 litres, features modular designs for easy adaptation across various applications. BorgWarner has supplied more than 1 million EGR coolers and is constantly improving its solutions for the best performance and durability.
