The first-ever BMW Causal Machine Learning Hackathon at Constructor University concluded with great success, showcasing exceptional talent and innovation. Over three days, 34 student teams competed, with 21 submissions reviewed by BMW experts. The highlight was a festive awards ceremony where the winners were announced by jury members Ishansh Gupta, Louis Heublein, and Nataliia Kholodna.
The winning team, comprising Aleksandr Kovrigin, Kseniia Lysaniuk, Valerii Ovchinnikov, and Egor Shibaev, impressed the judges with their actionable business recommendations and professional video presentations. Their soft skills and ability to connect technical expertise with real-world applications set them apart, earning them a direct interview opportunity with BMW, bypassing the technical screening phase.
The event celebrated not just the winners but all the finalists. The top three teams received exclusive BMW merchandise, while all shortlisted participants were awarded personalised recommendation letters.
According to CU President Stanislav Protasov, the hackathon highlighted Constructor University’s focus on practical, hands-on education by giving students the chance to work with a renowned global brand like BMW. This partnership reflects the university’s dedication to advancing higher education and fostering innovation.
By forming industry collaborations, CU equips students with skills and connections to excel in their careers, strengthening its role as an incubator for technological progress.
