ABB has introduced the ChloroStar™ family of chlorine analysers, designed to provide accurate and reliable chlorine measurements for efficient control in industries like water and wastewater treatment. This innovative product family includes sensors, transmitters, and accessories that help users monitor and manage chlorine levels effectively, improving treatment processes and maximising uptime.
Chlorine measurement has been a challenge in the past, with sensor technologies often requiring extensive maintenance due to issues like fouling and drift. The ChloroStar™ family addresses these issues with self-cleaning sensors and advanced technology that ensures long-term operation even in high-fouling environments. These sensors are equipped with diagnostics, pH compensation, and EZLink™ technology, which simplifies installation and maintenance while improving accuracy.
The ChloroStar™ Digital Sensor is designed for measuring Free or Total chlorine and features a tri-electrode sensor with built-in diagnostics for reduced drift. It works seamlessly with ABB’s InFlow Multi-Cell system, providing stable chlorine measurement regardless of flow variations. Meanwhile, the ChloroStar™ Cell uses a self-cleaning open-cell design to continuously clean electrodes, reducing operational costs by 20 per cent compared to traditional solutions.
The ChloroStar™ system can be integrated with ABB’s AWT420 transmitter for tailored water analysis, and users can access real-time data through the EZLink™ Connect App. ABB’s EZTest 100 chlorine photometer also provides fast, accurate field analysis, offering industry-standard verification of process samples. This launch aims to enhance chlorine control, reduce maintenance, and support effective disinfection in water treatment.
