Manufacturing Today, organized a webinar on the topic of Supply Chain Management: A New Age Awaits! The webinar touched upon the latest disruptions in the supply chain management and how the industry is dealing with it.
The eminient panelists at the panel discussion were:

• Prof. R. Jayaraman, Operations and Supply Chain Management at Bhavan's SPJIMR (S.P. Jain Institute of Management and Research)
• Milan Thakkar, CEO, Walplast India
• Vipul Aggarwal, AVP – Supply Chain, Havells India

During the webinar, Vipul Aggarwal mentioned that the disruptions are of two kinds – foreseen and unforeseen. If we make a disruption calendar, it helps us to be prepared well in advance. Also, learnings from foreseen disruptions make us more competent to face unforeseen challenges.

Prf. Jayaraman elaborated on two kinds of supply chains responsive supply chain and agile supply chain. He further added that going forward supply chain should be able to be flexible, foresee challenges and adaptive to technologies. He also highlighted the importance of Being vocal about local. He mentioned that the PM Modi’s call was not for restricting our supply chains to local markets however being competent for the global market.

Milan Thakkar mentioned that the lockdown and COVID-19 outbreak may bring the paradigm shift. He added that Walplast India will shift its gears and look at more automation and mechanization. On the backdrop of new norms such as social distancing and situation of migrated workers, might bring new challenges and technology will come to the rescue in such cases.

Senthil Kumar KK added to the discussion yet another dimension to the discussion by speaking about digitalization. He mentioned that automation and digitalization will bring superior quality in and make the supply chain more efficient.
