Generally speaking, the manufacturing industry is not firing on all cylinders. That's because the market has not been kind to them in recent times. Though the government has stepped in and is helping, the measures proposed will take some time before on can see results.

But the team at Manufacturing Today was keen that they continue with the platform that appreciates the sector's efforts and recognise them. In its 8th year, the Manufacturing Today Conference and Awards pulled out all stops to ensure that participants had a great evening, took home some learnings, and have their spirits uplifted.

Bibhor Srivastava and Saikumar felicitate Dr Raghupati Singhania, chairman & MD, Jk Tyre & Industries, who was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement this year.

There were several ways to do this. One was to get them some noted and distinguished speakers who could tell them that they continue with what they are doing, and that good times will come soon. The other was to recognise their initiatives through the Awards function.

Thomas Varghese, business head, textile, acrylic fibre and overseas spinning, Aditya Birla Group, delivered an enthralling keynote address.

With 15 categories, this time Manufacturing Today decided to invite digital nominations. We did that successfully. The grand Jury had a tough time scanning through the forms as most of them had done excellent work in the sphere they operate in.

Manish Singhal, business director India, general industry adhesives, Henkel, gave a presentation on its unique products for the Indian market.

The Awards function began with a keynote address by Thomas Varghese, business head, textile, acrylic fibre and overseas spinning, Aditya Birla Group, who delved on how manufacturing the changed over the years and what the future holds for the sector.

The first panel disccusion had plant heads from leading manufacturing companies.

The day long conference had three panel discussions. One was a panel comprising plant heads of companies across sectors, the second on supply chain, and the last panel had distinguished CEOs speaking on strategy and what the future holds and what needs to be done.

The panel discussion on CEOs saw heads of companies share insights on what is ailing the industry and the solutions for them.
